Mobile 5-camera system for start and turn analysis available

Good news for all training centers that do not have windows in their swimming pools: CONTEMPLAS has developed a flexible and widely applicable 5-camera system for start-, turn- and technique analysis. The system consists of  a high resolution above-water camera and four waterproof underwater cameras which are stored in an included, robust flightcase.


With a resolution of 2 megapixels and a framerate of 50 frames per second, the analyst will not miss a single detail of the movement. The flightcase provides the power for all hardware components and is used as a workstation for the user. A flatscreen mounted on the front of the flightcase enables the athlete to receive quick feedback immediately after the recording while remaining in the pool. The rim mounts are individually adapted to your pool rim with the help of the latest technology, are step-less, height-adjustable, and can be easily adjusted in each axis.

Qualitative technical parameters: reaction-behavior, take-off movement, immersion-behavior, diving- and kicking-behavior underwater, transition phase and first strokes.

Split times: Start time; reaction time, push time, block time, flight time, 5m, 10m, 15m.

Average velocities: 0m-5m; 5-10m; 10-15m.

All of these results are available within a few clicks after the recording and will be shown on the automatically created report along with images of the key moments.

The start signal and therefore the synchronization of timing and video clips can be triggered by the software. Hence all information in the timeline provides a split time relative to the start signal.

Turn Analysis

Camera positions: Underwater cameras at 1,5m 5m, 10m, 15m; Above-water cameras adjacent to the start block.

Qualitative technical parameters: Capture of touch, push off, turning and diving-, gliding- and kicking behavior.

Split times: 15m, 10m, 5m pre turn; touch/pushoff ; 5m, 10m, 15m after turn.

Average velocities: 15m-10m, 10m-5m, 5m-0m pre turn; 0m-5m, 5m-10m, 10m-15m after turn.

Push time (contact time at wall)

Time spans: from 15m-15m; 5m-5m; 5-15m.

Obviously, the cameras can be used in any number independently from their position at the pool rim for technique analysis. All well-known 2D video analysis tools of TEMPLO, such as overlay, stroboscope, angle measurement, etc. are available as well. Furthermore, a delayed preview feature rounds out the solution.
